Simple Homemade Skin Treats for Christmas Gifts
Why waste money on expensive, chemical-filled beauty products for Christmas presents? With very little effort or cost you can produce beautiful gifts with that all-important personal touch.
Making your own skin care treats can be easy with these simple recipes using items you may already have in your kitchen cupboards.
Bath Soak
4tbs ground rolled oats
2tbs milk powder (optional)
1tbs bicarbonate of soda
3tsp lavender flowers*
4/5 drops lavender essential oil
Mix together well and pour into pretty hankies or material squares tied with different coloured ribbons.
*Our lavender plant is still in flower, even this late in November. Cut any remaining flowers and hang upside down to dry. Then sprinkle the dried flowers into the bath soak mixture. Any remaining flower heads can be tied up in small pieces of cloth to make drawer fresheners.
Salt Bath
125g coarse sea salt
50g epsom salt
25g table salt
10g bicarbonate of soda
6-10 drops of your favourite essential oil
Mix together well and pour into wide-necked jars. Save interestingly shaped jars and bottles over the year - they are perfect and individual. Decorate the jar with personal touches, festive ribbons around the neck, gold stars, dried flowers... The only limit is your imagination!
These recipes can be altered to suit your preference, and be sure to label your finished products with the ingredients used in case of allergy.
