Recycle4Charity

Recycle4CharityWe probably all know that printer cartridges and mobile phones can be recycled, but did you realise that they can raise £1 per inkjet cartridge, up to £5 per laser/toner cartridge, and up to £30 for a mobile phone for your favourite charity? No prizes for guessing which charity I'm hoping is your favourite... If, like me, you have a large stash of used ink cartridges because you haven't got round to finding a convenient way to recycle them, you could be sitting on a valuable source of funds.

Recycle4Charity was established in 2002 and has an aim of donating over £100,000 to charity each and every year. So far it has raised over £257,000 and also kept 318,000m3 of discarded laptops and cartridges out of landfill. With increasing use of computers, and the frankly shocking turnover of mobile phones, these volumes are bound to increase.

Recycling your cartridges and mobile phones couldn't be simpler. First, check to see if the items you have are on their ‘wanted' list.  Then register here. You can request bags, which will take 2-3 items, or boxes, which can take around 50 items. The boxes would be ideal for your office, community centre or school, or if you've been saving up your empty cartridges for a long time! If you use a box, you can arrange for Recycle4Charity to collect it when it is full. It's that easy! Each recycling bag and box will have the name of your chosen charity on it, and the box comes with posters with recycling details.

By joining this scheme you can make a huge difference to the environment and your chosen charity, and you can even see how much you have raised for the charity. If you have any further questions, Recycle4Charity have an extensive FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) section.

What a great way to start making 2010 your greenest year yet!
