Get on board Eden's Big Green Bus

Eden Project visitors now have another way of getting on board the movement to tackle climate change - by stepping onto the Big Green Bus.

Environmental campaigner Brigit Strawbridge, CEO of the charity The Big Green Idea and star of BBC's ‘It's Not Easy Being Green', has donated the refurbished double-decker to Eden to be used as a mobile educational centre.

It will allow Eden visitors to find out more about green initiatives and our relationship with plants.

The bus was part of the charity The Big Green Idea, which Brigit founded to show people how they could make changes to live more environmentally friendly and sustainable lifestyles.

With the charity now in the process of winding up, the Big Green Bus has been given to Eden and will now be based at the main arena during the summer.

Everyone who visits Eden is welcome onboard. Among the activities on offer are storytelling, a mini-cinema and demonstrations about plants and eco-friendly devices by the Pollinator tour guides.

It is also hoped the Big Green Bus will eventually be used for outreach events such as at schools and festivals, so more people can learn about ecological issues and what they can do to help.

Brigit Strawbridge, who helped transform the bus into an educational resource, said: ‘As part of The Big Green Idea's mission, the bus has already visited many schools, community groups, town centres and events to tell people how they can make easy changes to live more sustainable lives.

‘Having the Big Green Bus now based at Eden provides a fantastic opportunity for it to reach thousands more people. Eden is a wonderful venue, with an ethos that fits perfectly with that of The Big Green Idea.'

Nathan Mansbridge, Eden's visitor experience manager, said: ‘We're absolutely delighted to take ownership of the Big Green Bus and look forward to welcoming people on board.

‘Our visitors will love being able to explore yet another unique setting in which to learn and have fun.'
