DIARY of green events

From the Editor...

'Hello, I'm Jo and I am lucky enough to have been asked to be the editor of the BGI Newsletter. My job is easy, I have an amazing group of knowledgeable friends who write inspiring and informative articles - I just get to read them and pass them on to you! This month, with the approach of winter and the unstable financial situation, we learn how to effectively insulate our houses to cut our fuel bills. Also the article on how our young people really can show us the way to go green is a must read. Most importantly, we look forward to the Big Green Bus's maiden voyage to the Big Bradford Green Fair on October 4th. I plan to be there and look forward to telling you all about it next month...'

Brigit fills us in on the final days of preparation, with all the news on the latest additions  upstairs and down... full update

Who will save us? A 'Penguin's eye' view...

‘Who Will Save Us?' is an inspirational book by Rebecca Mørch for children and their adults, which takes a positive and empowering approach to the issues of climate change and helping to resolve it. However, there is hope...  find out more

Have your (cup)cake and eat it! - Shikhita Singh

'When I started Fair Cake, I had no idea about running a business. All I knew was that this was going to be a 'good' business. I had been hooked on the American blogs about cupcakes for a good few months when I decided that I could start my very own cupcake company in London. Little did I know how difficult the next few months were going to be...' more details

First time festival fears!

Never been to a summer festival but really fancy it? Editor Jo and her daughter were in the same situation so we challenged them to bite the bullet, pick an event and get down there! They chose the 'Croissant Neuf Solar Powered Summer Party', an intimate green event in south Wales. Here's how it went... full story
