The UK's Wildest Hide & Seek

Hi everyone, how about joining me and the BGI in taking part in the Wildfowl and Wetland Trusts Wildest Hide & Seek survey?

Full details are here: http://www.wwt.org.uk/our-work/wetland-habitats/wetlands-in-my-backyard/the-uks-wildest-hide-seek

It is suggested that you pick an hour between either between 4am & 7am, 10am & 4 pm, or 6 pm & 11pm. Find a quiet spot to do your survey and note the time and date. Hide from view quietly for, say, 45 minutes, and watch for wildlife (a perfect excuse to relax for a while).

This is an amazing opportunity for us all to help the WWT understand what is happening in our ponds and lakes and so help to find out exactly how healthy (or not) these areas are.

We would very much like to make this a joint BGI effort and therefore, for anyone who is interested, if you send me your completed forms then I will collate all our surveys and send them to the WWT. Please email forms to me at fionasharp63@hotmail.co.uk and I will upload them with a comment that they have been carried out by BGI members.

Click here to download the form & guide: http://www.wwt.org.uk/files/HQ-PR/WIMBY/Wildhidenseekguide1.pdf

The survey starts on 21st May and runs to 31st May. Final date for submission of surveys is 14th June so if you want to take part via the BGI please get the forms to me by the 12th.

Thanks wildlife fans!

As part of a long term study, the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust is investigating the relationships between the ponds and wetlands in our gardens and local parks, and the wildlife that relies on them. If you can spare one or two hours between 21 – 30 May, please spend them watching wildlife in your garden or local park. Hide yourself quietly to watch for what animals are about. Then have a look around to seek out any that might be hiding there. It doesn’t matter whether there’s water there or not – in fact we need plenty of people doing this who aren’t near a wetland. Please visit the WWT website for full details on how to participate in this great project here
