The Big Green Gathering has a special place in the hearts of many a Big Green Idea supporter for many reasons, not least of which being that this was where The Big Green Idea charity became a fully fledged reality, with the marquee in the campaigns field a joyful memory! Like many festivals this event has come under a tremendous amount of pressure from the 'Red Tape' brigade, so much so that the event in 2008 was cancelled. There were real fears that it would not be held again, at least not in the form of the fantastic event in 2007, a culmination of years of organic growth in response to a desire from people within the green movement for a festival that was focused on Green issues.

The Big Green Gathering is for people who care about health, the environment, sustainability, our children's future and life in general. It is a celebration of our natural world and our place within it. As such it is a place for enjoyment, learning and fun. Unhealthy activities are not encouraged. The only things taken in excess should be love, peace, joy and friendship. Plans are already afoot for a BGI presence at the 2009 event; hopefully more on that later.

In line with several other 2009 festivals the Big Green Gathering has just released 'Early Bird' tickets which are available from their website via the link below.  With 15,000 to 20,000 people expected at the event it could well be worth making sure of your ticket. So to book up or just to read up on their previous years' gatherings check out their website click here

A more comprehensive guide to this and many other 2009 green festivals will be published in the Big Green Idea Newsletter in the New Year.
