Our Bus's First Outing - 4 Oct 2008
The first outing of our bus will be to the Big Bradford Green Fair at Fitzmaurice School, Frome Road, Bradford on Avon, BA15 1LE on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th October, where the whole family will be able to take part in a fun, interactive and informative green experience.
On the Friday the bus will be open to local schoolchildren, parents and teachers offering information and advice before the school's environmental week.
On Saturday from 12am to 5pm Brigit will be joined by local green organisations and businesses. There will be practical and local advice on everything from growing your own veg and keeping hens and bees to shopping locally, composting, recycling, green cleaning and skincare as well as greening up your buildings. Workshops will run hourly from 12pm on a range of subjects from skincare, presented by Brigit, to energy saving in the home, run by Andy Hamilton, co-author of The Self-Sufficientish Bible.
There will be a range of stalls manned by local businesses, the local Freecycle group, the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust and Climate Friendly Bradford, and local allotment holders, community agriculture scheme, beekeepers... and many more! You will find loads of activites for children and families. This is one event where you won't end up going home with a carrier bag full of leaflets and good intentions only to make no progress except to recycle them in your black box.
