Herefordshire in Transition Regional Mini-conference, Saturday 28th November, from 1.30 - 4.30pm at Hereford's Shire Hall
'Dear All,
This is an open invitation to anyone who wishes to be involved with creating and strengthening local responses to the challenges of climate change and peak oil.
On Saturday 28th November, from 1.30 - 4.30pm at Hereford's Shire Hall, Transition Hereford, Kington's Kleen Network and Hereford's Climate Action Carnival are hosting a regional mini-conference to discuss ‘Herefordshire in Transition'. There is much to discuss! Amongst our growing network of local environmental groups there has recently been considerable discussion of the potential benefits for us all in coming together as a community: to discover our joint resources, share our aspirations and identify any limitations in order to more effectively meet the challenges and opportunities ahead of us. We hope that a number of exciting outcomes might emerge from such a gathering, including for example the development of a greater sense of regional ‘transition' community and an assessment of the potential for an alliance of some kind through which we might collectively become greater than the sum of our parts.
We plan to provide facilitators (and tea!) to promote ease of discussion and to enable everyone present to contribute towards a positive and useful outcome.. This will not be just a chat session but a structured, open, and inclusive process leading to further developments. We envisage that a possible outcome could be the formation of some kind of network that addresses the idea of "Herefordshire in Transition", perhaps with a number of focus groups to follow-up on areas of mutual interest. We will also arrange some space at a local pub from 4.30pm onwards so that discussions can continue in a more informal way after the mini conference has concluded. We are doing this now because we feel that locally and internationally, the time is right to move things forward to a new stage in our development.
We hope that you agree and will come and join with us in this regional community initiative. We are inviting as many of the Transitional & Environmental Groups in the area as we are aware of, along with other interested organisations [see below for a list of those we have already invited]. Please could you forward these details to anyone else who you think might be interested, inviting them to contact us....
Please could you RSVP asap to one of the addresses given below and let us know whether you or your group would like to join us, together with a rough idea of numbers so that we can form a clear idea about how many will attend.
Thank you! & all best wishes,

Please note that the ‘Herefordshire in Transition' meeting comes at the end of the very last ever Climate Action Carnival in Hereford!
Over the past six months the Climate Action Carnival has run a series of local events to raise awareness of climate change. The emphasis has been both on influencing our politicians and on making practical changes in our own lifestyles.
From 11am - 1pm in High Town, Hereford on the 28th November, the final ‘carnival' will involve music, singing, poetry readings, drumming, street theatre, costumes, postcards to the PM and info about climate change. From 1pm - 1.30 at the Shire Hall there will be a showing of the short film ‘The Kingsnorth Six', followed by the ‘Herefordshire in Transition' meeting from 1.30 - 4.30pm. If you would like to join us for the carnival before the ‘Herefordshire in Transition' meeting, you are most welcome...
