Date: 16 September

Time: 5pm for 5:30pm

About Brigit: Brigit Strawbridge moved with her family to a smallholding in Cornwall in 2005, where their endeavours to live a more sustainable lifestyle were the subject of the BBC2 series ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green’.  Following the screening of the series in 2006 Brigit founded ‘The Big Green Idea’ charity to help show people how simple and inexpensive it can be to live a green and ethical life. Over the last couple of years Brigit has become increasingly concerned about the plight of our native bees and now talks, writes and campaigns to raise awareness of the problems they face and how we can all help them.

Summary: The decline in the bee population is well documented in the media. However, although millions of £££s are now being ploughed into scientific research projects, not enough is being done to help at a grass roots level. In this talk, Brigit explains the importance of (and difference between) Honeybees, Bumblebees and Solitary bees, the problems they face and what we can all do to help them.

At 10:10, we're lucky enough to be in touch with people at the forefront of climate politics, journalism, technology, campaigning and communication. Never ones to miss an opportunity, we've invited some of them into 10:10 HQ to tell us about their work and share some thoughts on environmental issues great and small. We are aiming for one talk every fortnight, and we'll be blogging and podcasting them as we go.

We're opening up our seminars to a select few 10:10ers. Keep an eye on our Twitter feed to be in with a chance of winning a ticket. You'll need to make your own way to our Camden HQ, but we promise a warm welcome, stimulating discussion and maybe a glass of wine and some nibbles too...
