Things are hotting up!
Things are starting to hot up as we approach the deadline for our first event! It’s quite scary when I look at how many things we still need to do to get the bus finished and on the road but there’s nothing like a bit of pressure to get focused.
Whilst Andy and his team are working hard this week to finish the inside painting, seal the windows (which leaked during last week’s rain) and put the cinema seats in place, I am spending hours on the computer and the phone making last minute decisions and making sure that the bus conforms to all the health and safety regs etc.
Today I have ordered the hemp fabric to cover the back seats in our downstairs ‘library’ area and sourced some cork that comes in rolls to line some of the inside panels. I’ve also been looking at low energy and LED light bulbs. These have been more difficult to find than I had imagined because we don’t have much headroom to play with so have needed to get fixtures and fittings that don’t stick out too much from the ceiling of the bus.
This Sunday is going to be a big work day. We’ve ordered all the bits and pieces we need for the sparkeys to finish the wiring and connect the turbine and solar panels to the batteries, so hopefully everything will go smoothly there....and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we have some wind and/or sun so we can see how it all works!
I’m still trying to get a good price on a TV screen and DVD player and I’ve decided (with advice from Jimll who has been helping with all things IT related) to go for a mobile phone system for internet access....something called 3G I think!
I’m beginning to think it might be quite nice to live on the bus!!!
